A visit to Campeche in Mexico has to include a moment to flavor their famous tacos. Known as the Campechano taco, this amazing food was originally invented in that very colorful town when inhabitants began mixing two, and eventually multiple ingredients on their tacos. Surprisingly, Campeche is not flooded with taco places, despite its reputation. Restaurants in this wonderful little town offer both traditional and more sophisticated tacos. We were looking for a mix and with a little advice from our hotel, found the perfect spot.
We visited Santo Taquito y Otros Milagritos which lies in a small side-street to the main square. It has an unassuming facade but presented itself as a clean and comfortable place to eat.
The menu is fairly extensive, offering a selection of different tacos from meat to fish and vegetarian as well as traditional Mexican dishes, salads and deserts. Because it was our first visit to a taco restaurant we took the mixed plates, offering a combination of fish and meat (including one with Mexico's famous barbacoa which is well worth it!) And the food was excellent, justifying its extremely high rating on review sites like Google.

Overall the food was fresh, tasty, well made and we really wished we had more space in our stomachs to continue eating. We had the mixed taco plate with shrimp, fish and meat and if you are new to tacos, this is an absolute must to take. The fun thing is that you can take an assortment of plates and then share it among the table, making lunch or dinner fun and interactive!
The restaurant itself features an open kitchen and a clean but simple modern design. The service was extremely friendly and we were grateful that the waiter spoke English well (as our Spanish was a bit shaky).
The restaurant can get quite busy, so I recommend you arrive a little earlier to get a seat.
